Bauhaus
1919. Glass. Transparency
A school, a movement, a landmark in architecture that changed the 20th century. Bauhaus is more than an architectural movement; it is a moment in our history that has impacted and continues to influence materials, objects, and our society.
I learned about Bauhaus during my studies in Social Communication, specifically in Advertising and Propaganda. I've always been fascinated by this movement. As the years passed, I delved deeper into the subject. How could I create a tribute that captures such profound aesthetics?
With this reflection, I sought to create a dance of light using minimalist elements to explore the primary aesthetic characteristic of Bauhaus. Using a simple element like a transparent glass, I incorporated the lines of a yellow straw and immersed it in a deep blue liquid. With just one point of light, the effect of the yellow and blue creates green, connecting to the movement's color theory.
Light plays the role of the protagonist, transforming the yellow straw into fresh green, as a testament to Bauhaus's enduring influence on how we perceive the world. This piece is undoubtedly a passionate homage to this institution that revolutionized architecture and the arts.
Its influence persists in every aspect of contemporary consumption and aesthetic appreciation. The Bauhaus piece invites us to reflect on the lasting legacy of this school and its continued ability to illuminate our understanding of form, function, and beauty.
