Ball Ballet

Dribble. Goal. Goalpost?

One of the greatest classics in world football. Brazil vs. Argentina. A game invented in Brazil, button football. In this photograph, we see not the players' dance, but the ball’s. A true ballet across the field that leaves its marks.

This piece, created with a backdrop of intense pink paint, is a tribute to football. Bold and vibrant, it transports us to a football field, splashed with green and inhabited by the iconic pieces of button football invented by a Brazilian (Geraldo Cardoso Décourt, 1930), representing the classic clash.

However, upon closer examination, it becomes clear that we are not discussing the game itself, but rather contemplating the choreography unfolding from the perspective of the ball. This ball, weaving across the field and leaving a trail of shocking pink in its wake, reveals something often overlooked: the intricate dance it performs. Often maneuvering unexpectedly, navigating between a fervent cheering crowd and a passionate opposing one, the ball moves with impressive mastery as it approaches the goal, leaving us in a state of eternal uncertainty: will it be a goal or not?

The answer to this question remains elusive, but what this piece offers is a deep reflection on the game, its nuances, and complexities often missed by a superficial glance. It invites us to appreciate the beauty and hidden choreography in the sport, to delve into the deeper layers of the football experience, and thus discover a renewed appreciation for this universally loved sport.
